Another wonderful week in Year 6 has finished. It has been great to see such positive attitudes to learning with the holidays fast approaching.
This week, Year 6 were very lucky to have Jennifer, Rosalind Franklin’s sister, in school to answer our questions. We were incredibly impressed with the pupils’ confidence and maturity when asking such thoughtful questions – what a privilege to have such a special guest in school! The week ended with a wonderful Christmas fair, and it was great to see so many of you there.
Writing
We finished publishing our pieces of writing about Rosalind Franklin. We focused on ensuring that information was presented in the most effective way.
Maths

STEM
We completed a scientific experiment based on the adaptations of leaves. This allowed us to focus on our working scientifically skills and discuss the reliability of our results.
Project
We learnt about solutions to some of the environmental problems Australia is currently facing. Fire-proof houses and reef shading were our favourites!
Guided Reading
We finished reading A Christmas Carol.
Next week:
Writing
We will be focusing on answering our project enquiry question, looking at how information can be summarised to form an argument.
Maths
We will be working on multi-step problems.
Guided Reading
We will be focusing on questions based on non-fiction texts.
