Year 6 have loved getting competitive today as we have taken part in a school wide and national competition on the epic Maths platform that is ‘Times Table Rockstars.’ At one point in the day, Polaris were number 50 out of around 32,000 classes taking part! Way to go! The children have been doing so brilliantly in their Maths learning in general and we are so proud of the progress that everyone is making.
In English this week, we have been diving further into the world of ‘Jemmy Button’ with a particular focus on using rich vocabulary to describe two contrasting locations (Tierra del Fuego and London in the 1800s).
We have also enjoyed two fantastic talks from guest speakers, delving into our topic of evolution, including one presentation from one of our very own parents Dr Gillis – thank you so much!
Next week we will be celebrating children’s Mental Health Week. This will be a busy week full of assemblies, mindfulness sessions, stories and creative learning to reflect on how we grow and change. Here are some ideas to discuss these important topics at home: https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/parents-and-carers/
We are looking forward to the Family Zumba charity event on Thursday 10th at 4.30PM. Some teachers and staff will all be taking part so we look forward to seeing many of you dancing virtually.
On Friday 11th Year 6 children can come dressed in red for our diversity celebration.
