What a wonderful first week of learning and hard work across Year 6! We started our project on Artificial Intelligence, with Computing and D&T as our Project focuses for the half term. In Computing, we began learning about and using Lego Education SPIKE, which we will be coding and eventually racing between classes at the end of the half term! In D&T, we learnt about how cam mechanisms function, as we will be creating our own during the next few weeks.
In English, we started learning about dystopian fiction and applied various techniques, including using specificity, granularity and elaborative diacope to help the reader to discover experiences as the character does. In Guided Reading, we began our new book, Show Us Who You Are by Elle McNicoll, which is about a neurodiverse twelve-year-old girl who is shown an amazing new technology. In Maths, we leant about co-ordinates, translating shapes and reflecting shapes. To consolidate learning, the worksheets from this week can be found here: Su1 W1 Coordinates and Transformations

Writing challenge – write a short story that starts with, “The clock ticked past 61.” Include at least one of the writing techniques we learnt about this week.
