This week, we continued focusing on globalisation across the curriculum. In Art lessons with Mrs Smith, we redesigned well-known global brands’ logos by experimenting with different colours for our repeated patterns.

In Project, we learnt about the demands on different levels of the global food market and played a role play chocolate trading game, which was so much fun!

In Science, we learnt about the problem of space junk and assessed potential solutions to this. We then designed and described our own satellite removal tools to combat the issue.

In Maths, we continued learning about the relationship between fractions and decimals and began focusing on percentages. See here for practice: Sp2 W3 Maths

In English, we continued planning our essays on the title, ‘Globalisation makes the world a better place. Discuss’. We wrote single paragraph outlines and broke our paragraphs into four different points to help us when we write our essays next week.

Spellings for the week:

  • Environment
  • Lightning
  • Island
  • aisle
  • isle
  • recruit
  • sluice

There is a list of words that children should be able to spell by the end of Year 6. They can be found here: Spelling word list

Writing challenge – write a short story about this picture. Try to use short sentences for impact and make sure you check over your spellings and sentence structure when you edit:
