We’ve had a fantastic week in Year 6!
English:
This week, we have been publishing our poetry. Creativity has been flowing through the classroom, and it has been wonderful to see the different ways the children chose to present their work.
Maths:
Our focus has been on ratio, developing a strong understanding of its applications. The learning can be found here:Sp1W4 Maths sheets
STEM:
We continued our work on classification, this time taking our learning outside! The children explored classification in the school environment, identifying different leaves and trees. It was great to take our learning beyond the classroom and apply it in a real-world setting.
Project:
In our project lessons, we have been examining the impact of World War I on Britain. The children explored various historical sources to understand the roles of different groups, with a particular focus on the contribution of women during the war.
Looking Ahead to Next Week
- English: We will be writing a literary essay on The Final Year.
- Maths: We will continue to develop our reasoning skills with fractions and ratios.

Year 6 Swimming Lessons Begin Next Week!
Please ensure your child brings their swimming kit on the correct day:
- Monday, 3rd Feb – Antares & Polaris
- Tuesday, 4th Feb – Sirius & Antares
- Thursday, 6th Feb – Polaris & Sirius
This will mean an early lunch (12pm) for those classes who attend first – Antares on Monday, Sirius on Tuesday and Polaris on Thursday.
