We have had another great week in Year 6!
This week we have enjoyed lots of great learning and a special VE Day celebration on Thursday. The lunch cafeteria was decorated in Union Jacks and we joined the rest of the country in a 2-minute silence, with some of our Year 6s reading their own poems, to honour those that served in WW2.
Maths
We have been focusing on revising in preparation for SATs next week, looking at past questions and correcting common mistakes.
English
In English, we have started a new project all about Dystopian Literature and have spent the week looking at examples of Dystopian stories/films and practicing key writing techniques that we will use when we come to write our own.
STEM
In STEM, we have continued on our topic of light and our UCPS crime scene investigation. This week we focused on shadows and understanding the relationship between the distance from the light source and the shadow it creates.
Art
As part of our VE Day celebrations, Year 6 enjoyed making poppies in our school value colours and creating poppy displays on the classroom windows.
Project
Year 6 are continuing with Lego Spike programming as their project this term. This weeks lesson involved programming claws to sense and pick up objects in its path.
Next week:
Next week it is SATs week! Year 6 will be completing papers on Monday – Thursday.
The beginning and rest of the school day/week will remain the same and school show rehearsals will continue on Monday after school. Enjoy a weekend of rest and recharge ready for Monday!
