This week in English, we started learning about war poetry and examined how important it was so people could express themselves, influence others and use it as a coping mechanism through World War One. We examined rhythm and rhyme and wrote our own WW1 poems as if we were on the frontline.

In Maths, we continued practising using the four operations with fractions through different problem solving activities. To consolidate learning, please find this week’s worksheets here: Maths Worksheets Sp1 W3

In STEM, we continued learning about classification keys. We created our own keys to classify different lego pieces, as well as giving them scientific names inspired by Latin, such as Legos Bricus!

New spellings for the week:

  • co-ordinate
  • co-operate
  • co-own

Have a go at practising your use of varying sentence lengths, including short sentences for effect, through writing a story about this picture:

Next week:

  • English: Continuing with war poetry
  • Maths: Ratio

Happy Weekend!
