This week in English, we have been writing powerful flashbacks building on all of our learning over the last 2 weeks, where the man in The Piano remembers his time in the war. We have been really impressed by the children’s descriptions and attention to detail and we are looking forward to seeing the finished pieces next week! Some children have been so inspired by The Piano and our unit so far on World War One that they have created some masterpieces in response.

In Maths, we have been using the four operations with fractions. For practice sheets, see here: Sp1W2 Maths – Calculating with Fractions 1

In STEM, our brains had a good work out, using classification keys and finding the percentage of numbers, by drawing on our long division skills. Well done everyone!

For Spanish practice, see here: Blog Sp1 W2

No new spellings for the week – please review spellings from previous weeks.

In Writing Journal, we have been practicing using colons for impact e.g. He wanted one thing: freedom. Have a go practicing your use of colons, using this as a stimulus:

Next week:

  • Bikeability
  • English: War Poetry
  • Maths: Consolidating learning on fractions

Happy Weekend!
