We have had another fun and busy week in Year 6.
In Maths, we have continued learning long division. This week, we focused on converting remainders into fractions and decimals. For more practice, you can find the learning from this week here: Au2W4 Division Remainders
In Writing, we have finished writing our biographies about Rosalind Franklin. We focused on conveying information in creative and engaging ways and discussed the idea of legacy. In Guided Reading, we have continued to read A Christmas Carol, meeting the Ghost of Christmas Past in Stave 3 and exploring their importance in Scrooge’s transformation.
In STEM, we looked at animal adaptations and discussed how these link to our learning on DNA. It was wonderful to see the children using their new vocabulary to explain how different traits develop.
In Project, we explored population distribution in Australia. We compared population patterns in rural and urban areas and began considering the reasons behind these differences. We analysed a range of graphs showing population changes over time and discussed possible initiatives to increase population in certain regions.
Next week:
Writing: We will be revising and editing our biographies.
Maths: We will be looking at the order of operations.
STEM: We will be learning about fossils and Mary Anning.
