We’ve had a lovely sunny week in Year 6! It has been great to see the sun shining and to spend some extra time outside with our classes. As the weather continues to get hotter, please ensure that all children bring sun cream, a hat, and a water bottle to school each day.
Maths
This week, we’ve been focusing on consolidating our Year 6 learning. We have revisited key areas such as arithmetic, decimals, percentages, fractions, and shape and measure. Next week, we’ll continue our consolidation by focusing on common misconceptions and mistakes to strengthen our understanding.
English
We have now finished publishing our information texts. We’re so impressed with the care and dedication the children have shown to make sure their final pieces look their best. Next week, we’ll begin an exciting new unit on creative writing.
STEM
In STEM, we’ve started an investigation into the properties of light. Over the coming weeks, we’ll use our knowledge to solve a fictional crime—our budding investigators are eager to put their skills to the test!
Computing
In Computing, we’ve continued working on our project. This week, we began coding and constructing more complex designs, which has really challenged our problem-solving and creativity.
PSHE
In PSHE, we’ve been learning about managing our emotions and recognising strong emotions in others. We’ve had thoughtful discussions about how people express their feelings and explored strategies we can use to manage them in healthy ways.
Art
Year 6 are lucky to have Art with Ms Smith this half term. This week we focused on drawing in proportion.
