We have had a week jam-packed with excitement in Year 6. Polaris and Sirius enjoyed wonderful trips to ARM (and we know Antares are excited for their trip on Monday!). It was great to see the children so engaged with the engineering and coding activities planned by the ARM staff. They were blown away by the level of engagement and knowledge shared.

In Writing, we have been revising our autobiographies. We focused on the skills of show, not tell, using the senses to describe experiences, and varying sentence lengths. We have produced some beautiful pieces of writing and cannot wait to edit them next week.

In Maths, we have been expanding our fraction knowledge. We focused on multiplying fractions by fractions and by whole numbers. The independent learning from the week can be found here: Sp1W3 Maths – Calculating with Fractions

In Project, we learned about the Battle of the Somme and reflected on it as a significant historical battle. We also examined its role in redefining warfare during World War One.

In Spelling, we have been learning when words are hyphenated.

Next week:

In Writing, we will be editing our autobiographies. We will focus on ensuring punctuation is used correctly and effectively, as well as exploring language choices and sentence structure.

In Maths, we will be recapping how to convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions. We will then move on to solving fraction equations using the four operations.

In Project, we will be learning about the Home Front.
