The Spring term is going very quickly and we have had another great week of learning in Year 6. We were lucky to welcome Sir Professor Baron-Cohen to the school this week. He was blown away by the thoughtfulness of the children’s questions.
In Maths, we have been looking at finding percentages of a number. We then moved on to problem-solving with decimals, fractions and percentages, looking at the importance of being able to convert between all three. If you would like additional practice, find this week’s learning here: Maths sheets_
In Writing, we have been revising our poems. We have focused on: show, not tell, imagism, similes and metaphors, and using the senses. We cannot wait to edit and publish our poems next week.
In STEM, we have been learning about the problem of space junk. We used this knowledge to create inventions to solve the problem.
In Project, we have started our new Geography topic. We will be learning about globalisation. This week we looked at the interconnected nature of trade between countries.
Next week:
In Maths, we will be looking at coordinates and the translation of shapes.
In Writing, we will be editing and publishing our poems. We will be focusing on word choice and spelling.
In STEM, we will be learning about the different theories on the creation of the universe.
In Project, we will be learning about fast fashion and the cotton industry.

Please make sure that all children are following the uniform policy. This will be emailed to all parents. This includes: long hair tied up, no jewellery, black shoes, and jumpers/cardigans with the school logo on.
The final payment deadline for Snowdonia is 4th May. The total balance needs to be paid by this date. If this is not done, children will not be able to attend. If there are any issues with payments, please contact your class teacher.
