It was wonderful to take advantage of the sunshine and enjoy our reading sessions outdoors.
Maths
This week, the children built on their understanding of fractions by learning about equivalent decimals. They then moved on to ordering decimal numbers and rounding them to the nearest integer and one decimal place. Next week, we’ll take this further by linking decimals with percentages. English
In English, the children have been busy editing their drafts. They researched facts to add to their writing, improved their work with relative clauses, and crafted strong opening sentences that give readers a clear idea of what to expect in each paragraph. They are incredibly proud of their work so far and are excited for our next lessons.
STEM
Our STEM lessons focused on understanding the life cycles of mammals and birds. The children explored fertilisation, gestation periods, and then illustrated the life cycle of a mammal. They also compared it to the life cycle of birds, deepening their understanding of biological processes.

Art
Year 5 have been thoroughly enjoying their art lessons in Mrs. Smith’s art room. They have been working on their own books, experimenting with new techniques to bring their artwork to life.
