It has been a busy first week back to school. Firstly, we would like to thank all parents who volunteered to support the History trip to West Stow Anglo-Saxon village. It was a great day, with lots of opportunities to see and experience first-hand what life in Anglo-Saxon times might have been like.
Because of this trip, we have postponed the start of our new Geography project on ‘Explosive Nature’ to next week. We will be learning about the structure of the earth, plate tectonics, volcanoes and earthquakes. It will be an interesting project so do start your research and learning at home by exploring library books or websites all about this.
In English, we are working towards a double-page poster about volcanoes. This will use many techniques of non-fiction writing. To prepare for this, we have started this week by looking at how sentences are structured using subjects and verbs, and identifying the difference between a sentence and a fragment (part of a sentence).
In Maths, we have concluded our unit on addition and subtraction by solving multi-step word problems and have completed the end of unit assessment. The maths worksheets can be downloaded here. Maths Au2 week1 sheets
In STEM, we are excited about beginning a new unit on sustainability and climate change. Children will be learning about energy and energy usage, reducing energy waste and renewable energy options. We will also be thinking about ways that we can create a more sustainable school community. Watch out for the ideas to come!

Learning conversations will take place on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th November. Please check your Parent Mail account to sign up for a slot. Your class teacher will be able to discuss the most recent assessments with you and set targets for your child.
It is starting to get chillier now, so please ensure that you child has appropriate outdoor PE kit for the winter months including: trainers, joggers, t-shirt, jumper and socks.
