What a fantastic penultimate week of term! We finished with an explosive performance of Hamlet in the hall which had all of year 5 on the edge of their metaphorical seats. Some children even got to take on roles like Rosencrantz, Guildenstern and the King of England!
Maths
This week, the children used their fantastic knowledge of fractions and decimals by linking these to percentages. We explored how to convert between the three representations and used these skills to solve multi-step problems. Sheets can be found here: W5 Maths final
English
In English, we have reached the end of our thorough editing process. Children explored different ways to use technology to improve their spelling and word choice, as well as making their writing more personal. They prepared for next week’s publishing lessons by planning how they will present their leaflet, including some fantastic and informative diagrams!
STEM
We finished our STEM unit on life cycles by revising all that we have learnt so far about how plants and animals can reproduce sexually and asexually, and how they continue to develop as they move towards adulthood and reproduction.
Art
Year 5’s developing art projects have been a joy to watch. Mrs Smith has enjoyed how engaged everyone is with their creative projects.
