The term seems to be flying by! We have had a very spring-like week with all weathers from hail to sunshine. Unfortunately Fuji got caught outside in a downpour during PE…
We have been busy drafting our information leaflets this week. It has been incredible to see the number of topics covered across Year 5 from Table Tennis to Taylor Swift, from Canines to China. We also had a go at using some techniques to ‘hook’ the reader and have tried revising our paragraphs on the next page.
In Maths, we have been finishing our unit on calculating with fractions and have started relating fractions to decimals and percentages. This week we focussed mostly on decimal tenths and hundredths. The worksheets can be downloaded here: Sp2 W3 Maths.
In RE over the last couple of weeks we have been studying Christianity and the events that led up to the crucifixion. This week the children took parts of the story and re-enacted them to better understand the story.
In Geography, we have been learning about coasts and different types of islands and their formation. We were interested to learn about Surtsey, one of the most recent islands which has formed off the coast of Iceland in 1963. In Maths we will start to look at more decimal and fraction equivalents and begin to learn about percentages.
In English we will be finishing our first draft of our leaflets and start the revising process.
