The children have shown great enthusiasm across all subjects, from writing creative myths in English to investigating scientific changes in STEM. We’ve been impressed with their curiosity, hard work, and teamwork both in and out of the classroom.
In English, the children have started to draft their myths, focusing on the use of fronted adverbials as well as speech and dialogue. It has been wonderful to see everyone so engaged and producing some fantastic pieces of writing. Next week, we will continue drafting and explore different types of endings.
In Maths, the children have been learning about negative numbers. They have practised placing negative numbers on a number line, reading temperatures, comparing negative values, and finding the difference between positive and negative numbers. Next week, we will assess the children’s knowledge of both place value and negative numbers, before moving on to different strategies for solving addition equations. Maths week 5 sheets
In History, we learned about Anglo-Saxon beliefs and how they converted to Christianity. The children found this topic really interesting and enjoyed making links to their previous learning. Next week, we will turn our attention to daily life in Anglo-Saxon England.
In STEM, we explored rust and oxidation. The children carried out an experiment to see how different liquids can affect how quickly an iron nail becomes rusty. We tested water, vinegar, Coca Cola, and lemon juice, recording our observations carefully. Next week, we will begin investigating new materials.
The children have also been brilliant in Forest School, where they enjoyed pruning branches and identifying leaves. This was a very hands-on session that the children really loved.
This week, some of our pupils also took part in an exciting art project, helping to design artwork for three murals that will be displayed in the new local development in Eddington.

Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing for both Forest School and PE. We have noticed that some children are not wearing the correct PE kit — football kits are not allowed.
