Year 4 have been busy with lots of exciting learning across the curriculum!
In Maths, we have been exploring our times tables in more detail. The children have been learning how different times tables link together and noticing patterns within them. For example, we have looked at how the 2, 4 and 8 times tables connect, and how knowing one can help us work out another. We have also been spotting number patterns, which helps improve speed, accuracy and confidence when recalling facts.
In English, we are continuing our work on poetry. The children have been learning about personification, where objects are given human qualities, and onomatopoeia, which uses words that sound like the noise they describe. We have also written alliteration poems, focusing on repeated sounds at the start of words to create rhythm and fun effects. The children have really enjoyed experimenting with language and creating imaginative and descriptive poems of their own.
In STEM, we have continued our topic on sound. We have been learning how sound is made through vibrations and how these vibrations travel through different materials. To support this, we made cup-and-string telephones to explore how sound travels. The children loved testing them out and discussing their observations.
