We have had an exciting and busy day in Year 4 this week. Thursday was World Book day and we all enjoyed sharing our favorite books and looking at different illustrations – it was great to hear such rich book-talk in the school!
In English, we have continued reading ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’. We have used the book to look at characterisation and how authors create images of characters that go beyond physical appearance. As well as this, we expanded our descriptive techniques – getting to try pomegranate as inspiration. We finished the week looking at statement sentences and creating out own comic strips. Please find some extra writing practice here: Spring 2 Week 2 writing prompt
In Maths, we have been looking at x10 and x100. We looked at different representations and then applied our learning to some problem solving equations. Find this weeks learning here: Maths Dividing by 10 and 100
In STEM, we have looed at liquids and gases. We conducted experiments to prove that gasses are everywhere!
Next week:
In English, we are looking at sentence formation and focusing on run on sentences. We are going to start writing a emotive speech.
In Maths, we are looking at halving and doubling and then moving on to informal methods for multiplication.
