We have continued the story Queen of Darkness this week, with such exciting scenes! We have got to the part where the Romans have invaded Britain and Boudicca and the Iceni tribe are preparing for battle! This has coincided with our History learning on the invasion and the battle at Watling Street between the Romans and the Iceni. We imagined what it might have been like to be in the tribes preparing to fight and explored how the characters and setting might have changed through the story. We also worked on some grammar using subordinate and relative clauses. These are fairly tricky so you may want to review these at home using the sheets: Clauses-worksheet
In Maths, we have been working on some fundamentals of multiplication and division: multiplying by 0 and dividing a number by 1 and itself. Although it sounds easy, it has not always been! Children have really had to grasp the difference between grouping and sharing to solve them. You can access the worksheets from this week here: Multiplying by 1 and 0 sheets
We have had a lot of fun in the forest again, with some more success at fire lighting and some wonderful den building. Children have really thrived in this environment and have loved having more independence in the forest. One group even built a see-saw!
Spelling this week has reviewed the /ae/ sounds from last week and introduced different spellings for /ee/ including the <y> spelling (probably, history, century), the <ie> spelling (believe), the <e-e> spelling (extreme, complete) and the <i> spelling (various).

Thames and Amazon have their trip to the Museum of Classics on the 1st and 2nd February consecutively. Thank you to parents who have volunteered to help. Please ensure children have coats and a snack on this day as they will have a later lunch that usual and will be hungry!
Forest school will continue next week. We are really enjoying these sessions. Please ensure that your child has wellies or boots to change into as the forest is muddy and wet.
