Hi everyone!
What a great week of learning we had in year 4 this week!
In English this week we have been planning our own Greek Myths, to prepare ourselves for writing them next week. We planned them by thinking about an adventure Odysseus would embark on. We learnt how to use fronted adverbial, expanded noun phrases and conjunctions. We used thesaurus to up-level our vocabulary and we sequenced event in order to help with cohesion in our writing.
In Maths this week we learnt how to round numbers to the nearest 10,100,1000 which is a useful skill in many ways, such as counting money and measuring. Next week we will continue to practice this skill so that we can master rounding between different multiples.
In History we were learning about the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece and we also tried an ancient long jump!
In STEM we have been learning about the different diets of animals and how this has affected them in evolution.
In R.E. We have been learning the story of the Buddha and reflecting about how to be happy.
Next week
In English children will write their stories using the plan they have design this week.
In Maths we will continue with rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. please find a worksheet to practice this at home.
In STEM we will be learning about Tooth decay and we will do a very interesting experiment about it.
In History we will be learning about Alexander the Great and his legacy. Children will do a short biography based on research.
A kind reminder that school will be closed on Friday 11th of October.
