This week in Year 4 has been full of innovation, creativity and problem-solving! The children have been busy exploring how technology and design work together by using microchips and little bits to create exciting inventions. From secret detectors to artistic pens, everyone showed fantastic imagination and teamwork while bringing their ideas to life.
The children especially enjoyed experimenting with circuits and discovering how different components work together. There were lots of moments of trial and error, and the class did a brilliant job debugging problems in their designs when things did not go quite to plan. It was wonderful to see such resilience, curiosity and determination as they tested and improved their creations.
In English, we have launched our new topic: persuasive writing. The children have begun thinking carefully about causes they feel passionate about and who they would like to persuade. We have already had some thoughtful discussions about changes they would like to see in the world, and we are excited to turn these ideas into powerful pieces of writing over the coming weeks.
In Maths, we have been learning about fractions and using fraction walls to help us understand the value of different fractions. The children have been comparing fractions, spotting equivalent fractions and building confidence in explaining their mathematical thinking.factions for home learning fractions for home learning
Keep practising times tables at home, as the MTC’s are coming up at the beginning of June. Regular practice really helps build speed and confidence.
