This week in Year 4 has been full of creativity, focus, and exciting learning opportunities.
In English, we have continued planning our short stories. The children have been thinking more deeply about their main characters, exploring their personalities, motivations, and how they might change from the beginning of the story to the end. We discussed how good stories often show characters learning something or growing in some way, and the classes have done a fantastic job developing thoughtful and interesting ideas.
In Maths, we have been learning about multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. The children practised identifying how the digits move within a number and used their place value knowledge to help them solve problems confidently. It has been great to see their understanding grow as they tackled a range of challenges.
On Friday, we were very lucky to welcome engineers from ARM for a special workshop. They taught the children how microchips can be programmed and used in technology. The class created their own pets using cardboard and then programmed a microchip so their pet could speak or play music. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that the children really enjoyed.
We would like to say how proud we are of the class. Their resilience, focus, and enthusiasm for learning have been wonderful to see this week.
