This week we had the privilege of not one, but TWO incredible literary visitors to the school. The first was Matthew Goodfellow, who led some workshops on poetry or ‘rebel writing’ as he liked to call it. He talked about the importance of capturing your voice and that your voice matters. Children were totally inspired and loved breaking the rules in their poems, to capture their own voice, language and ideas. The second brilliant visitor(s) to the school were the Shakespeare Company, who put on an incredible performance of Henry V. We were so proud of the whole of Year 4 for their wonderful active storytelling and super contributions to the play. Many pupils shared their ideas about the characters and plot with great expertise and confidence. We hope that both of these experiences were enriching for all the children.
In Maths, we have been learning how to calculate the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes. There has been some confusion between the two so please do go over this at home. Sheets can be downloaded here: Week 5 Maths – PErimeter and Area2

Next week is Shakespeare Week! We will be learning about the play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. It is a super play and will be a fantastic week with lots of active storytelling. Assessments will happen throughout the week – this is just a data collection and nothing to worry about!
