Year 4 have had such a wonderful first week back! We have been incredibly impressed with the passion, dedication and resilience that they are already applying to their learning – we know we are going to have an amazing year already!
We started the week by focusing on the golden agreements and completed a range of learning activities connected to these.
In Maths, we got our maths brains back in gear by refreshing our fluency with the operations and played lots of maths games! I am sure the children would love to teach you these at home.
We also launched our topic, ‘The Ancient Greeks’ and began discussing what we already know and what we want to find out. I know the children are as excited as we are to delve into our new learning!
In Maths, we are going to be focusing on place value. We will be recapping previous learning from Year 3 to help us plan for the year ahead.
In English, we are going to start exploring ‘The Odyssey’ and begin looking at the different characters in the story. We are going to explore how the use of language can be used to develop character and think about the impact this has on the reader.
In Science we are going to be exploring the digestive system.
Our book for guided reading is ‘Cogheart’ by Peter Bunzl. We are going to begin by discussing the use of prologues and immersing ourselves in the setting.
