What a fantastic week we’ve had in Year 4! In Maths, we’ve been exploring Roman numerals up to 100, learning how to read and write them, and even spotting patterns in the numbers. We also started counting in 50s and noticed how it links closely to our knowledge of counting in 5s — great for building number sense and spotting relationships between place values!
In English, our focus has been on writing dialogue and speech. The children have been learning how to use inverted commas correctly and, more importantly, how to give voice and personality to their characters through what they say. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity shine as they bring their stories to life with conversation.
In STEM, we launched an exciting investigation into tooth decay. We’re using eggs to represent teeth, placing them into cups with different liquids such as water, juice, and fizzy drinks. Over the next week, we’ll observe what happens and discuss which liquids cause the most damage — a fun and eye-opening way to understand how to keep our teeth healthy!
