Year 4 have had a wonderful (and busy) week back after our residential. It has been great to see all the children jump back in with their learning and applying the teamwork skills they developed at Caythorpe in school. We want to thank everyone who was able to attend learning conversations this week, it is always a pleasure to share your children’s progress and next steps with you – we are a year group of very proud teachers!
In English this week, we have been looking at the Barnabus Project book. We have been using it to write powerful descriptions and have focused on different word types. Extra writing activities can be found here: Maths Summer 1 Week 3 Short Division sheets
In Maths, we have started learning formal methods for division. We have been using the bus stop method and have been practicing examples with and without regrouping. For extra practice, find our learning for the week here: writing for blog.
In STEM, we have been looking at light and have carried out different investigations to uncover the different properties of light. It is great to see the children’s scientific enquiry skills at work.
We have also continued our computing and DT projects this week. The children are enjoying getting stuck onto these and we are excited to see the final outcomes.
Next week:
- In Maths we are continuing to look at short methods for division
- In English we are beginning to write our own stores. We are focusing on choosing powerful language and short sentences.
- In STEM, we are continuing to look at light
- In PSHE, we are looking at managing risks and ways to keep ourselves safe
- In Guided Reading, we are looking at Chapter 2-4 of Cogheart.

A reminder that in June, Year 4 have the Multiplication check. We are encouraging all children to practice their times tables where possible. If you do not know your child TTRockstrs log in, please ask your class teacher.
