Wanted: Intrepid Explorers… - University of Cambridge Primary School

What a wonderful week! The children have been working incredibly hard this week to write their own adverts to convince potential explorers to apply for a role in Ernest Shackleton’s crew. They used their knowledge of persuasive devices to write some very compelling adverts! They considered the skills and qualities needed for the role and used these to write personal specifications: amazing work Year Three!

In Maths we have been focusing on multiplying by 2-digit numbers by single digit numbers. We began by investigating different calculations using manipulates and place value charts. We then explored using part-whole models to support our calculations. Have a go at the calculations on this sheet: Maths

During our Art lessons, we have been inspired by the work of Alma Thomas AND inspired by nature. We responded to her artwork and used it to create our own pieces: The children created some stunning art this week with wonderful titles!

A note about PSHCE coverage for this half term:

Children will broaden their knowledge of different drug types and how they enter the bloodstream. They will develop their understanding of medicine use and the roles of health professionals and others who handle these drugs at work. They will further develop their awareness and understanding of safety rules relating to medicines and extend these to consider ways of

keeping safe with a broader range of items, including syringes. They will reflect upon realistic sources of support from trusted adults and consider how to tell and ask for help. They will focus on two legal recreational drugs – nicotine and alcohol – considering the effects, why some people choose to use them and skills for reducing risk and harm. They will consider the impact of influence and persuasion and practise skills to help manage these.
