This week it’s been heating up both literally and figuratively in the classroom.
The children have been dabbling in English lessons as they write through their draft fables, trying to find the tricky balance between using interesting adjectives and pitching their stories to the right audience (Year 1 children). We’ve also explored how to use dialogue to reveal our character’s personality – asking questions like how do we know this character is ungrateful by the way they speak?
In Maths we’ve continued learning about shapes, this time focusing on 3D shapes and we’ve even tried making them with toothpicks and plasticine. To support your children further with this: challenge them to find and name 3D shapes in the supermarket and explain how many faces, edges and vertices it has. In DT we are practicing using levers to make mechanisms in preparation for a pop-up moving page.
Important Notice: Next week (26th June) Maple and Redwood will be going on their school trip to Wandlebury. Please ensure they have suncream on, a water bottle, and clothing suitable for the weather and for being in a forest.
