What a wonderful week we have had in Year 3! The children have worked incredibly hard this week and they should be very proud of all the learning they have done!
In English, the children have been exploring a range of fables. They immersed themselves in the fables and hunted for all the craft moves they want to get into their own writing. They have decided which of our school values to base their own fable on and have created their characters. We will be creating anthologies of fables to share with one of the younger classes- the children are VERY excited about this!
In Maths, we have been exploring 2D shapes. We applied our previous learning around lines and angles to talk about the shapes. We explored different ways of drawing polygons accurately. The children showed real perseverance in using some new resources- well done Year 3! Sheets for Blog
In D&T, we have been creating reciprocating levers and reverse motion mechanisms. There was real awe and wonder when the children realized that strips of cards and carefully positioned split pins could make mechanisms that move… brilliant work everyone!
In STEM, we have continued our unit on Electricity.

Next week
English: we will be drafting our fables
Maths: we will be focusing on naming, describing and making 3D shapes
Science: we will be continuing our unit on Electricity
D&T: we will be making more moving mechanisms based on linkages and levers
