Another learning filled week in Year 3!
In English, we started drafting our memoirs, thinking about first person and past tense, two key points to keep in mind when writing something that has happened to us in the past. The children wrote some amazing memories, and it was incredible to see how engaged they were! Next week, we will finish our drafting process and start revising.
In Maths, we started looking at numerator and denominator, defining fractions and working with them. The children shared some amazing knowledge and really immersed themselves, showing their learning determination. Next week, we will continue looking at fractions, starting to explore unit fractions more in depth. Maths Week 3
In STEM, we explored how to create a circuit using a wire, a battery and a lightbulb. The children all became scientists, trying to find what was wrong with their circuits and changing the outputs from lightbulbs to buzzers, also exploring what happens when you add more than one output. Next week, we will continue exploring electricity, focusing more on building circuits from diagrams.
In Computing, we started giving more complex commands to our Spheroes, such as changing LED colours and voice. Also, we learning how to loop a set of instructions so that it repeats a certain number of times.
Reminders:
- Please, as per school policy, snacks have to be one of the following: Fresh fruit or vegetable sticks are the healthiest option and free from most allergens. Good choices include cucumber, carrot, pepper, sugar snap peas and cherry tomatoes. If sending an alternative snack, please choose from: • Cheese portions (e.g. Babybel, cheddar) • Plain breadsticks, pretzels or pitta bread • Rice cakes or oat cakes • Plain raisins or dried apricots • Malt loaf (shop-bought only) All snacks must be nut-free. Please check packaging for allergens relevant to your child. If unsure, contact the school office. Any other snacks will have to be sent back.
- As days become hotter, children will not be able to go outside to play without BOTH a hat and sun cream.
