It’s been another great week in Year 3!

In English, we launched our new writing focus in English which is spooky stories. We have begun by writing as readers, exploring different spooky stories to magpie ideas for our own. We also drew the spooky setting of our terriffying tales and created a story river to plan the structure of them.

In Maths, we have built upon our learning of place value to consider previous and next multiples of 10 – not to be confused with 10 more/less! We’ve challenged ourselves to also see the relationship between multiples of 100 too.

In STEM, we became petrologists and experimented with different rocks to figure our what they were made of. To do this we used vinegar (the classrooms smell wonderful now!) to see if the rocks fizzed or not. If they did fizz it meant they were made up of old fossils and shells.

In History, we became ancient Egyptian code breakers, using our own rosetta stone style sheet to decode hidden hieroglyphic words. We also practiced writing in hieroglyphics too.
