Another knowledge filled week in Year 3!
In English, we finished “Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx”, seeing how Marcy became a courageous explorer and bested the giant snake that trapped her father. The children really like exploring Marcy’s adventure and created some amazing descriptions of her journey through the belly of the sphinx. Next week, we will start our “Spooky Stories” project!
In Maths, we have continued exploring place value and started counting in multiples of 10 and 100, exploring them using many different representations. The children also worked hard to find previous and next multiples of 10 and 100. Next week, we will start exploring number lines and the concept of estimating.
In STEM, we conducted our first experiment of the year, using vinegar to try and find out which rocks had organic material in them. The children were amazing scientists and recorded their findings with incredible mastery. Next week, we will explore the different types of soil and where they are found.
In Project, we cracked a hieroglyphic code and learned about the Rosetta Stone. Next week, we will explore Ancient Egypt’s hierarchy.
