What a wonderful week of learning!!
This week in English we have been exploring what makes effective and clear instructions. First we explored how unclear instructions could affect how someone could make a cheese sandwich which caused us a lot of laughter! After fixing those instructions we created our own, focusing on setting them out clearly, imperative verbs and adverbs. Then we exchanged our instructions with one another and followed our friend instructions in order to make our own sandwiches. We then evaluated the effectiveness of each others instructions and thoroughly enjoyed our sandwiches!
In maths we have been working on column method subtraction with exchanging. At first we found this tricky however with perseverance and practise by the end of the week we were able to complete column subtraction of three digit numbers with 2 exchanges!
Please find this weeks maths learning below:
In Science we began to explore our new topic: Electricity. We had a range of electrical items to explore, from remote controlled toys to plugs. We thought about how electricity works and where it comes from. We then looked at how electrical items are powered from batteries and or mains electricity. Next week we will be looking at electrical safety!
-Forest school starts next week, so please ensure your child has the correct clothing. The days are as follows:
-Please could children bring in their reading records every week.
-Please could children have their P.E kits in school
Maths: In maths we will be starting on multiplication.
English: Next week we are continuing with instructions. Please could your child think of something they are good at that they could instruct someone else today (this must be something than can do in/bring into school) for example: Origami, playing an instrument, a card game etc.
Have a wonderful weekend
