This week we were so impressed with the budding journalists in Oak, Redwood and Maple. The children were so excited by the breaking news and events unfolding as our first English session got under way. They discovered that the Iron Man and a dragon had taken part in a ‘fire challenge to discover who was the bravest… they were determined to get to the bottom of the story and so began interviewing witnesses. They applied their learning about the features of the genre as the drafted and published their fantastic newspaper reports.

In Maths we explored adding and subtracting 1s and 10s using different representations alongside the column method. Here are some practice worksheets: Practice sheets

During Science we explored the requirements of flowering plants for survival

During Geography we compared different rivers and explored the different ways that humans use rivers

NEXT WEEK

English: We will be working towards writing our own non-chronological reports

Maths: Subtracting two numbers across 10s and 100s (where regrouping is needed)

Reading: Our text this half term is Everest

STEM: We will be learning about Plants this half term.
