This week’s learning in Year 3:
In geography, we focused on rainforests, learning about the different layers that can be found: the forest floor, the underlayer, the canopy and the emergent layer
English: We have been focusing on paragraphs and when to start a new paragraph. We identified paragraphs start when there is a change in subject, topic or time. We also wrote the build up to our portal stories.
Guided Reading: We started a new book linked to our project, ‘Journey to the River Sea’ by Eva Ibbotson. We predicted what we thought the book would be about from various covers, described the main character and developed our retrieval and recording of information.
Maths: We continued our learning of column addition however this week we had a focus on regrouping. We looked at the concept of having the sum being no more than 9 before you have to regroup. We played regroup-opoly to help cement this concept. Here is the board should you wish to play at home:Aut 2 W3 regrouping game
