Welcome back, everyone! It was wonderful seeing all the children back in school after the half-term break. We hope they enjoyed the school’s fireworks display last night – it was a lovely way to kick off the new term together!
English
This week in English, we’ve started an exciting new project: creating our own book covers! Using Martha Maps It Out as inspiration, the children have been practicing writing capital letters for proper nouns as they work on their covers and story ideas. Maths
In Maths, we’ve been exploring part-part-whole models and number bonds to 10. These foundational concepts help children see the relationships between numbers in a visual and hands-on way. Feel free to ask them to show off what they’ve learned at home! Blog Maths
Phonics
For Phonics, we’ve been focusing on different spellings for the /er/ sound:
- er as in “her,”
- ir as in “bird,”
- or as in “word,”
- ur as in “fur.”
Practice at home is always helpful, so if you have time, ask your child to share some words they know for each spelling.
Notices
- Forest School begins next week! Please remember to send children with appropriate clothing, including wellies, rain jackets, and rain trousers, to keep them comfortable and dry outdoors.
- Book Change: No book changes this week. However, children will bring home some reading texts to enjoy. Book changes will resume next Friday.
