In STEM, the children have continued to look at different materials focusing on how materials can be changed to create specific objects. The children also read Paper Chase by Julia Donaldson and then created their own story about a material becoming an object.
In History, the children have been re-enacting the story of The Great Fire of London and considering what conditions led to the fire spreading so quickly. We also looked at timelines to show how many years ago 1666 was.
In Phonics, we are now looking at the /i/ sound and thinking about the different ways this can be spelt – fight, hive, thyme, pie. They have also been recapping previous learning and practicing reading polysyllabic words.
In Writing, we have begun planning our ‘Information and Me’ books. Each class has produced a list of product goals, followed by an ideas party to consider what topics our books could be about. The children are now working in small groups to create a title for their books.
In Maths, we have been counting within 20 and understanding the number 10 and that ’10 ones is the same as one 10′. Here are the maths sheets used this week:Week 3 Counting within 20 sheets
