Hello all! Another week bursting with wonderful learning has flown by!
Phonics
During Phonics this week, we have been learning the different spellings of the /ew/ sound.
<ew> dew, few, new, knew <ue> argue, cue, <u> unit, huge
English
In English, we have been learning about adjectives. Children created their own characters and used adjectives to describe their appearances and personalities. If you would like to create one at home use the attached sheet. English independent 28.4.25
Maths
During Maths this week, we moved on to our Measurement topic. The children were introduced to height, length, mass and capacity, along with the related comparative vocabulary (longer and shorter; taller and shorter; heavier and lighter; empty, nearly empty, half full, nearly full and full). Children developed skills such as putting objects in order, using non-standard units to measure a range of objects, and using images of weighing scales to identify whether objects are heavier, equal, or lighter. Perhaps you could continue to measure using different units at home. Here is an example of an independent worksheet if you missed it last week: Comparing height, length and weight done
STEM This morning, Dr Barker returned with his potato seedlings and every child had the amazing experience of planting their own! We look forward to harvesting them in a couple of months!

Important Notice
It is really important to protect ourselves from the sun. Please ensure children have applied sun cream BEFORE they arrive at school and NOT at the classroom door in the morning, as this delays a prompt start to the day. Also, sun cream is not to be kept inside school bags but in the class box, therefore, it should be clearly named on a sticky label not just pen which eventually wipes off. Please leave these in school all term. Thanks to those who have already done this.
In addition to sun cream, all children should bring a clearly named sun hat that also lives in the classroom hat box.
Some children will have received a pack of phonic flash cards, please ask your child’s class teacher if you are not sure how to use them.
