English
In English this week, our focus text has been ‘The Secret Sky Garden’ by L. Sarah & F. Lumbers. We have been writing sentences using expanded noun phrases. Writing a sentence using ‘and’. Then finally drew a picture and labelled it with expanded noun phrases.
Maths
In Maths this week, the children have continued to build on their skills from last week of counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. Using a 100 frame and fill in the gaps and identify patterns. Children also challenged themselves to read word problems and use manipulatives to represent the groups and answer the questions.
Phonics
In Phonics this week, the children have been learning One spelling different sounds of /ow/ as ‘ow’ or ‘oe’
e.g. ‘ow’ -cow, now, how, crown eyebrow, and snow, bow, glow,
Next week
In English next week, we will be planning a story using an introduction, build-up, problem and resolution. We will also be learning how to sequence a story using time connectives.
In Maths next week, we will be recognizing and adding equal groups. Then making and drawing arrays.
In Phonics next week, we are learning the /oo/ sound as ‘oo’ ‘ew’ ‘ue’ ‘u-e’

If you have not already done so, lease send in an old T-Shirt with your child’s name on the label, we will use these in DT to design, cut up and sew into a bag.
