This has been another week of wonderful learning across Year 1.
In STEM, the children have started their new materials unit. This week they were looking at groups of materials and considering the different features of each group.
In History: the children are continuing to look at The Great Fire of London (including building a Tudor bakery in our role play area). This week the children were looking at both Tudor and modern buildings and sorting them into old and new groups.
In Phonics, we continued working on the /00/ sound and thinking about the different ways this can be spelt – blew, true, do, soon, flute. They have also been recapping previous learning and practicing reading polysyllabic words.
In Writing, we have begun our new unit ‘Information and Me’. During this project the children will each write a book about something they enjoy, a place they have been or a value that is important to them. At the end of the unit we will have a Year 1 publishing party where we hope new friends with shared interests can be made.
In Maths, we continued looking at subtraction stories, how many are left, subtraction on a numberline and subtracting by 1 or 2. The worksheets used this week are attached.Maths – Week 2 Subtraction Sheets
