In STEM, children continue to explore the cardinal points and learn about how the wind blows and the directions it can travel. We spend time observing our surroundings and investigating the different ways we can notice and measure the direction of the wind. Through hands-on exploration, the children develop their understanding of how environmental factors influence wind movement and how we can use simple tools, such as compasses or wind vanes, to identify its direction.
In Phonics, we have started learning a new sound — /oe/. Throughout the week, the children have been practising this sound and exploring the different ways it can be spelled. We have looked at words such as most, boat, toe, know, so and many more.
In Writing, we have been working on editing our favourite pages in preparation for publishing. It has been wonderful to see the children developing their skills in reviewing and improving their own work. It has been a pleasure to see their confidence grow as they take ownership of their editing and celebrate the progress they have made.
In Maths, children have been practising one-to-one correspondence through a range of practical, hands-on activities. They have been matching objects, counting set and ensuring that each item corresponds to one number as they count. These engaging activities help to strengthen their early counting skills and deepen their understanding of number value.
