Hi Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our round up of the week here in Year 1.
It’s was so lovely to see so many families come into school to celebrate children’s learning during Family Friday today!
In English this week, we have completed writing our instruction booklets. We gave instructions to tell our friends how to play different games. Why not continue to play some more instruction giving activities using the vocabulary, First, Then, Next, After. It has been wonderful to see lots of ‘home learning’ brought in to celebrate too.
Next week, we will be learning how to edit our writing to make it even better. We will focus on capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
In Maths, we have been learning about ‘finding and making numbers to 20’ and doubles and near doubles.’
In STEM we have continued to build on our knowledge of Materials. We carried out an experiment to find out which materials stretched the furthest and used centimeters on a ruler to record and compare our data.

Books have been changed today, please ensure books are kept safely in the reading wallets.
Please explore Numbots at home together. This app will help your child consolidate the number work they are doing in school. 10-15 minutes every evening is an ideal amount of time to be aiming for. If you need help logging in, please ask your child’s teacher.
There are also lots of phonics games to play at PhonicsPlay.co.uk. Please explore this app together.
Reminder, next week school will be closed for inset on Friday 14th February.
