Dear parents and carers,
We have had another busy and brilliant week in Year 1!
In Phonics, we continued to focus on the /ow/ sound, practising reading and spelling a range of words. The children are growing in confidence when using this sound in their writing and during sentence dictation.
In Maths, we have continued to work on number bonds to 10, using different resources and models to help us show how numbers fit together. The children are beginning to recall these facts more independently — continued practice at home would be hugely beneficial. In English, we continued writing our own stories and have been working hard to include adjectives to make our sentences more exciting. We are very proud of the imaginative ideas the children have been coming up with! Animal adjectives worksheets
In Geography, we LOVED our trip around Eddington. The children spotted features of the local area and spotted lots of physical and human features. We were so impressed with how fantastically all the children behaved and everything they noticed. Well done Year 1!
We have even been inspired to design our own towns back in the classroom — lots of creativity and thoughtful planning on display!
We have also been getting into the festive spirit by creating Victorian inspired paper chains to decorate our classroom. The children loved working as a team to make it feel extra cosy and cheerful.
