Dear Parents/Carers,
We have enjoyed a frosty start to our Spring term. The children have all settled back into their learning quickly and we are excited for the term ahead.
In Phonics, we have begun looking at the <00> sounds (food, youth). We will next change phonics books on Friday 16th January once this block of learning is complete.
In Maths, the children have been exploring subtraction; writing a number sentence using first, then, next and subtraction on a numberline.
In writing, we have completed a mini-book breaking down the components of a sentence. Next week, we will begin our new unit ‘Information and Me’.
In History, we have started to learn about The Great Fire of London, including beginning to build Pudding Lane Bakery in our role play areas. Please continue to send in any junk materials that we can use to build Tudor houses (cardboard, toilet roll tubes etc).
Some children were sent a Maths home learning pack before the Christmas break. The tens frame did not print correctly and two boxes did not print. To clarify, a tens frame consists of 10 boxes not 8. Apologies for any confusion this caused.
Please continue to read with your children at home and consolidate any work that we have completed this week. It is clear that they are making huge progress and your support in continuing this is much appreciated.
