It’s been a magical week of learning in Reception this week!

Phonics – Our phonics this week recapped Unit 6. This included the sounds j, w, and z.

To continue this learning at home, you could support your child to read and write the words: wag, wig, web, win.

Drawing Club – As part of our exploration of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, we watched a CBeebies adaptation of the play. We then explored different types of backdrops for stage shows and for Drawing Club, designed our own backdrop for a play. Some of the vocabulary we explored as part of this were words and phrases such as ‘brave’, ‘tragedy’, ‘magical’ and ‘mystical’.

Maths – In Maths, we focused on identifying number bonds to 5, using the song, ‘5 Little Speckled Frogs’.

Project – As part of Shakespeare Week, we have been learning all about ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, exploring themes of love, the characters of the fairies and understanding how plays work.

Art Skill of the Week – In our craft areas, we have been creating flower crowns which we were able to wear to our magical, mystical Midsummer Night’s Dream whole school feast!

After half term, we will be starting our new project – ‘All Creatures, Great and Small’.

Well done to all of the children for a wonderful half term of learning and fun – wishing you all a restful and relaxing half-term break!
