We have enjoyed another fantastic week learning all about animals and our focus has been on groups and packs of animals. The highlight of the week was our visit from the farm! The children loved seeing the animals including sheep, goats, a pony, chickens, rabbits and even a tortoise! What a fantastic day we had!
Phonics
In phonics, we have been working on Unit 8, where we have been looking at VCC and CVCC words. The children have done really well building the longer words using 4 letters. Our high frequency word this week has been ‘come’.

Writing for Pleasure
In Writing for Pleasure, the children have continued to enjoy our book making sessions. This week the children have been proof-reading their books and checking that it includes all elements which we have talked about during our book making sessions. We are also having a special ‘publishing party’ on the last day of the week when we will share our books!
Handwriting
This week we have been practicing the letters y, f, s, l and z. Please continue to practise the abracadabra letters at home as the little ones are finding them quite tricky. You can continue to practice handwriting at home using the following sheets:

Maths
This week in maths, we’ve been thinking more about the numbers 6, 7 and 8. The children have been noticing the staircase patterns when the numbers go up by one, and they have been using their maths language to talk about which numbers are greater than or smaller than another.
PSHE
We have been thinking about identities and diversity, thinking about how it is important to respect each-other and our differences. We discussed how we can all do the same things but we might do them in a different way.
