This week we have continued our discovery all about animals and our focus has been on camouflage. The children have enjoyed looking at different animal patterns and how the animals can use their camouflage to hide in their habitats. It’s been great to hear lots of excited talk in the room about animals.
Phonics
In phonics, we have been working on Unit 7 focusing on the sounds y, ff, ss, ll and zz. The children are building words like ‘moss’, ‘huff’ and ‘yell’, and learning to read simple sentences. We’re also practicing our high-frequency word: ‘all’.

Writing for Pleasure
In Writing for Pleasure, the children have continued to enjoy our book making sessions. This week we have talking about a new book project which we are going to be thinking about over the next few weeks. We are going to be making our very own animal books. We spent some time looking at some animal books from the library, and we have chosen which kinds of animals we are going to feature in our books. We then finished the week by making some beautiful front covers for our books.
Handwriting
This week we have been practicing the letters y, f, s, l and z. You can continue to practice handwriting at home using the following sheets:

Maths
This week in maths, we’ve been thinking about more, fewer and equal to. We have been using lots of different types of resources and looking at different objects to compare quantities.
PSHE
We have been thinking about what makes us special this week. We have described the things that we can do and what special skills we each have.
