Hello everyone!
It has been lovely for the teachers to speak to lots of you this week during Learning Conversations and to reflect on the wonderful progress the children have been making since starting in Reception. Many thanks to all of you for your time.
This week, we have been reading the book ‘Home’ by Carson Ellis, looking at the beautiful illustrations to have discussions about different types of homes and reflect on our own homes too.
In Phonics, we have been focusing on the sounds ‘b’, ‘g’, ‘c’ and ‘h’. To help your child at home, you could do some further practice of writing the words ‘cat’, ‘cop’, ‘cap’ and ‘can’.
In Drawing Club, we read the traditional tale ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, using the tale as a stimulus to design our own house for the three bears. We explored the use of vocabulary such as ‘big’, ‘medium’, ‘small’, ’empty’ and ‘broken’.
In Art, we have been focusing on craft skills using tissue paper, such as cutting, scrunching and ripping.
In Maths, we have been practicing subitising amounts to 4 and revisiting ‘more than’ and ‘less than’ by looking.
Next week, we will be exploring the text ‘A World of Cities’.
