We have had a very exciting week in Reception getting ready for the nativity shows next week!
This Week’s Highlights:
Our Focus Story: The Street Between Our Street The children have been exploring what’s underneath the ground we walk on – such a fascinating topic for curious minds!
Phonics We’ve continued working with the sounds n, o, and p. Your child has been practicing reading and spelling words like “pip,” “pop,” “map,” and “tot.” They’re also learning the high frequency words “is” and “a.” When reading together, you can point to these words and say, “this spelling is ‘a'” or “this spelling is /i/ /z/ ‘is’.”

Maths This week we’ve been focusing on comparison language: “fewer than” and “more than.”
Daily Music and Movement We’ve been singing “Ickle Ockle” and the children are working on keeping a steady beat independently. Check Tapestry for videos to practice at home!
Handwriting We’ve been practicing the letters a, i, m, n, p, o, and s using fun phrases like “down-bump, flick.” If you want to practice at home feel free to use the following sheets.

PSHE We’ve been discussing why we have rules and what makes them important.
How You Can Help at Home:

- Read together every day, even for just 5-10 minutes

Reading Books: Should be brought in EVERY Thursday. They will next be changed on the 11th of December.
Family Friday: 12th December at 2:30pm, followed by the FOCUS Winter Fair
